Charles B. (“Chuck”) Friedlander, Director of Actuarial Services, is our Chief Actuary. Chuck’s qualifications include:
- Enrolled Actuary under ERISA
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
- Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries
Chuck is approved to prepare actuarial valuations and certify actuarial reporting forms for government-sponsored plans under Pennsylvania state law, and is licensed to certify actuarial calculations and reporting forms under ERISA for pension plans sponsored by corporate and non-profit organizations. Chuck has over 30 years of experience consulting with both public and private sector sponsors of employee benefit plans. Prior to joining Municipal Finance Partners, Inc., Chuck was employed by Conrad Siegel Actuaries as a Consulting Actuary and worked extensively with both public and private sector plan sponsors.
Chuck was employed by Mockenhaupt, Mockenhaupt, Cowden & Parks, Inc. (MMC&P) prior to joining Conrad Siegel Actuaries. His responsibilities included supervision of actuarial staff as well as internal management aspects of the Public Employee Benefit practice of MMC&P. Chuck managed a client service team, including actuarial, administrative and consulting staff, which operated as its own profit center.
Chuck graduated with University Honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics (Actuarial Science Track) with secondary majors in Administration and Management Science (Business) and Economics from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA (1982). Chuck is an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA (1987), a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (1988), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (1996) and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Chuck has served as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Finance Committee for the Urban League of Metropolitan Harrisburg, Inc.
Continuing Professional Education. Chuck has consistently completed hours of Continuing Professional Education that well exceed the continuing education requirements of the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries under ERISA and the Society of Actuaries, as well as the Qualification Standards of the American Academy of Actuaries.
